Mission Statement
The Mission of River Valley Middle School is to create an environment in which our diverse student population can acquire the skills, knowledge and responsibilities necessary to become productive citizens in an ever-changing world.
Welcome to River Valley Middle School. Home of the Steamers! River Valley has over 900 students in grades six through eight. Students enroll from five elementary feeder schools; Northaven Elementary, Parkwood Elementary, Spring Hill Elementary, Thomas Jefferson. Some of the students from Utica Elementary and Wilson Elementary Schools also attend River Valley. From the eighth grade our students enroll at Jeffersonville High School.
Students are divided between eight academic teams at River Valley.
There are three teams at seventh and eighth grade level and two at sixth grade level. Team-related information can be found at the links at the bottom of the page. In addition to the academic block, students have classes in Art, Health, Industrial Technology, Music, Physical Education, Computer Technology, and World Languages.

Cell Phone Policy:
All electronic devices (cellular telephones) must be placed in student lockers during the school day. If a student has a cell phone out during the school day, the following disciplinary action will take place:
1st offense: The device will be confiscated for one day and a parent/guardian must sign for the device during the regular school hours.
2nd offense: The device will be confiscated for seven days and a parent/guardian must sign for the device during the regular school hours.
3rd offense: The device will be confiscated for seven days and ISS will be assigned.
4th offense: The device will be confiscated for seven days and two days of ISS will be assigned.
5th offense: The device will be confiscated for seven days and three days of ISS will be assigned.
Over five offenses could result in out of school suspension.
